Hi, I'm Katherine!

Doctor, mum of two, and founder of Healthy Wealth.

For years, I put personal finance in the too-hard basket.

Investing seemed complicated. Everyone had an opinion. And unlike medicine, I couldn't find the guideline that told me:

What does the evidence actually say?

So I went looking.

I read the research, books and guidelines, listened to far too many hours of podcasts, and eventually completed the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5).

And what I found surprised me.

The fundamentals of personal finance are actually pretty simple.

You don't need to know everything about money.

You don't need to predict the markets.

And you don't need to be really rich to feel financially confident.

You need to understand a few important principles, have a framework to follow, and know when to ask for help.

Money is a tool.

And like any tool, you first need to learn how to use it.

The point isn't to become as wealthy as possible.

It's to give yourself more choice — to take parental leave, reduce your hours, take a fellowship, buy back some time, retire earlier, or simply stop worrying quite so much about money.

Whatever a good life looks like to you, your money should help you live it.

That's why I created Healthy Wealth.

To give New Zealand doctors the financial education I wish I'd had.
Simple. Practical. Evidence-based. No financial product to sell.

We learnt the Krebs cycle. We can learn this too.
